They would never pay the prices that I paid and I suspect the problem is the area - either students who want take-out pizza or older folks who don't have the money (or won't part with it). Personally I loved the food even then, it had elegance about it and the 9 course menu we had was simply superb. A few courses were changed up for my parents to the vegetarian options which was done without question by Helen. The staff in general were all friendly but one thing that did stand out (as your friend said...as did my parents) the decor was a little out of place. I did also comment about plastic plates, no matter how wavy, should not be in a fine dining place like this as the food deserved so much more. It looks like they've addressed the "cheaper" option and revamped a bit of the serving. It is a shame they are not doing well as the food definitely deserves more custom, I run a restaurant review blog myself in Australia and was really please with what was served. Maybe time to try again while i'm over at Xmas.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5723901521102060136.post-5183944852639892102017-11-11T17:02:32.485+00:002017-11-11T17:02:32.485+00:00The main issue with DH1 previously wasn't its ...The main issue with DH1 previously wasn't its location, it was the price and, as a result, the elite clientele. Having eaten here several times, I can testify to the remarkable quality but it is a 'special occasion' place which, by definition, limits the volume of customers. Provided that DH1 can actually make a profit in offering this quality of food at a reduced price (and this level of quality never comes cheap), then a mid-week special might be just the ticket. I do hope so 'cos this place is superb.CliveBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01740251927758827857noreply@blogger.com
